Try our Green Gym - the perfect way to keep
fit!
Wildlife Conservation day
We need help from
volunteers to create and maintain habitat for the Marsh Fritillary
butterfly. In February 2011, we discovered several nests of
caterpillars of this rare butterfly - a great reward for our hard
work over the last few years. No experience necessary - bring
tools if you have them but we can also supply enough to go
around.
We
will be clearing scrub to keep sunny glades open for many
butterfly species on the farm including the Adonis Blue and the
Pearl-bordered Fritillary. The Large Blue is sometimes seen, and
breeds nearby. Careful management could encourage this butterfly
to breed at Westley Farm too!
There
are usually a couple of experts on hand from the Butterfly
Conservation Trust. These dates are run in collaboration with
Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and their members are happy to
share their knowledge with us - it's a great way to find out more
about our wildlife while doing something to help - and having a
surprising amount of fun!
Lunch will be served in
the barn kitchen, with cake and hot drinks on offer in the morning
and afternoon.
