This winter, take a couple of days away to recharge those batteries. It doesn’t always have to be security queues and cramped planes you know.
I’ve put together an itinerary so you don’t even have to think of things to do! We often have special deals and offers over the winter months so keep an eye on our availability and Offers posts.
Here’s what you could be doing this weekend;
Friday: Throw an overnight bag in the car, drive through the Cotswolds to the farm where tea by the fire (we lay the fire for you, just needs a match) is waiting for you. I make the cake myself using our own Burford Brown eggs and imagination….who knows what it will be.
We recommend a quiet meal at our local on your first night – award winning food served with warmth and friendliness but not ‘fancy’.
Saturday morning straight to the farmers market in Stroud – one of the best in the country. You’ll find delicious street food for breakfast/brunch. Then on to Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust down by the river Severn. They feed the Bewick’s Swans at around 4pm every day on, appropriately enough, a floodlit Swan Lake.
In the evening, enjoy the live band playing at The Stroud Brewery – their pizza oven gets fired up from 5. Pizza, beer & music…mmmmmm
So on to Sunday. Well if you can get up early enough (!) you could walk to the Jolly Nice Cafe, less than a mile away, for bacon butties (and egg and sausage if you’re Julian) then on to pick up some bargains at the car boot sale at Aston Down (also less than a mile away). Maybe you should take the car though…how are you going to carry home all your treasures? Once you’re in the car, you may as well pop into Tetbury and on to walk in the arboretum at Westonbirt when it is free from crowds.
Amble home to the farm, bag back into car and off home having had the best weekend ever!! Come on – what are you waiting for?
