A weekend in the woods learning ancient skills passed down from our ancestors

Knowledge of fire, hunting and woodcraft will be shared. 
Individual families will then build their own shelter, cook and sleep out by an open fire.

There will be more challenging and fun tasks the following day designed to cement what you have learnt.
No animals will be harmed and all food will be provided.

Nicholas will adapt the course to suit the needs of each group, but would expect to cover the following over the weekend:

• Fire building: methods of ignition, types of lay, with a chance to practice fire by friction.
• Knife craft: safe and efficient use of this essential tool, learn a variety of techniques
• Wood craft: learn how to produce beautiful and functional pieces.
• Tracking and stalking: skills to give you the skills to get closer to animals.
• Back country cooking:  learn how to control the fire and cook supper in a pit oven.
• Shelters: build natural shelters and a look at practical man-made sleeping systems, with a chance to sleep in them.

Suitable for children 8+. 

Nicholas is a trained instructor, member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning, CRB checked, remote 1st aid qualified and food hygiene standards compliant. Schools, corporate and organisation bushcraft bookings also available at the farm.
