THE WILD FLOWERS |

OF WESTLEY FARM |

| It is hard to believe that cowslips are an endangered plant when you see them growing by the million at Westley Farm. The above is a false oxlip, a freak cross between the cowslip and primrose. | Even on the farm red cowslips are as rare as hen's teeth (well almost) |
In the year 2000 we counted 41 Bee orchids in the sheep bank above the farmhouse. Other occasional finds include: Bird's nest orchid, Twayblade, Red and White Helleborine as well as the field smothering Common Spotted, Early Purple etc. |

| Yellow is the predominant colour of the bank above Cockshutt. The Cowslips of April are replaced by the Buttercups of high summer. | Wild Mallow in the foreground. Jackdaw cottage in the background. | A carpet of Dog Daisies with Hornstone in the background |

| Wild Welsh Poppies love to grow at the bottom of cotswold walls. You will find them in the yards of Cockshutt and Jackdaw. | ||
