What can you expect from a cottage at Westley Farm?
“Thanks for making us so welcome and providing us with this wonderful annual home form home” Alison N-S, February 2013
Our repeat bookings say it all….once you’ve enjoyed the magic of Westley Farm, you will want to come back. Some people come every year, others might leave it a decade or so but we usually see them again! We aim to provide you with a beautiful relaxing environment for your holiday.
All of our cottages are conversions from old farm buildings. Julian did most of the work himself in the 70s and 80s (you might like to read more about his adventures with the planners here). Three of them sit on their own away from the bustle of the farmyard to make the most of the peace, and of course the wonderful views.
All of our cottages have either an open fire or a wood burning stove, though these are purely for atmosphere as they all have central heating. We supply a free basket of logs on arrival with kindling, firelighters, matches and all! Tullet and Loft form part of what once was the old barn and stables so are right in the farmyard. They both have free wifi, are close to the laundry and have the added advantage of being closest to the vegetable garden sun terrace with possibly the best views of all, the perfect place to enjoy the evening light – and there is an earth oven there too for all to use either to warm a chilly evening or to bake bread, pizzas or whatever your imagination comes up with.
There are baths and showers in all the cottages, Cockshutt and Hornstone have separate walk-in double shower units while the others have over-bath showers.
We are proud of our green cleaning – we use only bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and citric acid crystals in our weekly changeover clean so you can be sure that no harmful residues are left on floors or surfaces to hurt sensitive feet or paws. What you lose in strong chemicals, you have to make up for in good old fashioned elbow grease so, as you are after all on holiday, we supply Ecover and Faith in Nature products for you to use in the cottages – a happy compromise. We take pets in all of the cottages. There is a choice of synthetic or feather pillows or duvets
Cockshutt – sleeps 4
Converted from an old stone cattle shed with a mellow pantile roof, this cottage has green grassy banks behind and views over the valley to the west. Cockshutt is all on one level with a private morning sun trap courtyard to one side and a garden that catches the evening sun on the other. The Chalford Donkeys are often in the adjacent field.
Tullet – sleeps 4
This used to be the hayloft and stables so is sited in the main farmyard. This cottage has free wifi. Split over two floors, with bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor, kitchen and sitting room with open fire below. The gorgeous sun terrace by the vegetable garden, with the earth oven for making your own pizzas, is only 12m away.
The Loft – sleeps 2 (1 double bed)
The balcony off the living room has a superb view across the Golden Valley to Chalford and the farms on the other side. Free wifi. A cosy woodstove provides extra comfort
Hornstone – sleeps 6
This is another conversion of an open fronted cattle shelter. Newcomers gasp at the astonishing panoramic views and tell us when they leave about the orchids they have found and how many deer and foxes they have seen.
Jackdaw – sleeps 4
This is the ultimate in romantic hideaway honeymoon cottages. It is tucked into a steep bank, over-shadowed by tall ash trees. You can see across the meadow to the Cotswold village of Oakridge on the other side of the valley.
Check availability here. Open all year. Weekly bookings only (Friday to Friday) in the summer. Short breaks and long lets in the winter.
