The Global Bee Project

Huge flowers surrounding a giant hive will attract human bees across the Westley Farm hay field and welcome them into the magical and fascinating world of bees.  Visit the bee hive to be inspired. Discover about the importance and wonder of all 251 bee species that live in the UK, not just honey bees, and find out how you can become a “Bee-Guardian” by taking practical actions to help save the local bees that pollinate our food.

At the hive each day there will be:

    * A workshop on how to make the traditional skep hive (woven straw);

    * Discussions on the future of bees and a re-thinking of beekeeping;

    * Opportunities to discover how to make a difference to the crisis facing bees;

    * A display on how to create a “bee-friendly” garden;

    * Opportunities to purchase bee hives and the plants that bees love;

    * A talk with a naturalist about the healing properties of bee pollinated plants

And every early evening, there will be a performance that will transform the way you think about the insects that surround us.
