roving studio presents....

...the ART of WESTLEY FARMING

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2009     10am till sundown

A collective cross-pollination celebrating ecological and creative diversity

Artists

In 2009, Roving Studio collaborated with Westley Farm for SITE09 to offer a weekend of activities, workshops, displays and performance for all. Children enjoyed donkey rides, fossil hunts, creating  art inspired by the rural landscape and The Global Bee Project's innovative performances. Adults explored the Art,  rural skills and crafts on show; from gate making to peg loom weaving and permaculture gardening - something for everyone!

Westley Farm has been a haven for artists, performers and craftspeople since 1972, encouraging the growth of endangered species from butterflies to boat-builders. 2009’s collaboration for SITE 09 celebrated that legacy.

The weekend was well attended despite pessimistic weather forecasts and we plan to do the whole mad thing again soon - only BIGGER and BETTER!!

Kate Raggett's Earth Drawing, made from wool from our Jacob and Suffolk sheep. It was a collaborative work - growing over the weekend with help from visitors. Some were initially hesitant and anxious to 'get it right'. Kate reassured them there is no 'right'! Do what you feel - let the land guide your hand. The result was an impressive dragon-like hill figure.

Cotswold Gliding club kindly took Kate up after the event to record it - thanks to them, and to Kate, and to you for contributing!
